Aihucha News, October 10: A forecast released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday shows that the United Kingdom will have the slowest economic growth among the Group of Seven countries next year. The IMF said that UK GDP is expected to grow by 0.6% in 2024, lower than the previous forecast of 1.0% and lower than the 0.9% and 1.3% expected growth for Germany and France respectively. The weak outlook reflects the Bank of England's need to keep interest rates high to tame Britain's stubbornly high inflation rate, as well as the hangover from last year's surge in energy prices. The UK's economic growth is expected to be 0.5% in 2023, the second lowest among the Group of Seven countries, only better than Germany's expected contraction of 0.5%.
