WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Chicago Fed President Goolsbee said he sees a "golden path" that could lower U.S. inflation without triggering a Great Recession. In an interview with CNBC, Goolsbee said: "We still need more information, but nothing happened in the past two months makes me think this 'road to gold' is impossible." When asked Asked whether the Fed should change its inflation target now that annual price growth has slowed to about 3%, Goolsbee denied: "I don't think so, and inflation hasn't quite come down to 3%. Inflation is still too high, so I’m reluctant to declare success without a clear victory. We’ve already set the target and we can’t change the inflation target until we’ve achieved it.”
