What is the reason why the victim met the fraudster online? Some people want to invest because they already do, some are brought in by online lovers, and some are tempted by high returns... Recently, a Taiwanese netizen wanted to travel to Japan and happened to meet a self proclaimed half Japanese netizen Good on social media. At first, he just wanted to learn about the precautions for traveling to Japan through netizen Good, but in the end, he was caught in a cryptocurrency scam.
Consulting tourism, being brought into a false encrypted trading platform
At first, Good only talked to the victim about various topics and gained his trust. After getting familiar with it, Good introduced the victim to investing in virtual currency. The victim was brought to a trading platform called "UCEX", where he made his first deposit of NT $30000 and earned some profits. The victim was not greedy, and after making a profit, he came up with gold. However, UCEX did not even give him a chance to successfully withdraw the gold, and instead demanded that he pay an additional NT $50000 to withdraw.
The victim suspected fraud and recharged NT $50000 according to UCEX requirements. Upon reapplying for withdrawal again, UCEX customer service replied, "Your account currently requires a deposit of 3140.92 USD (approximately 96000 New Taiwan dollars). After payment is completed, the system will review all previous sources of funds within 24 hours. Once the review is confirmed, all funds will be returned to your account.
At this point, the victim realized that they had been deceived and continued to contact UCEX customer service for payment, only to find that the customer service had lost contact.
What kind of platform is UCEX?
After checking by Aihui, it was found that the platform domain name was created on March 23, 2023 and is very new. The official website of UCEX claims to be a cryptocurrency exchange, but the website does not even provide basic information such as company name and address, making it completely impossible to verify its identity. Investors must stay away from such a platform.
Ai Hui Cha Reminder:
Unlike previous black platforms, UCEX is a fake platform that only provides cryptocurrency transactions. However, countries around the world have different attitudes towards cryptocurrencies. Some countries do not recognize cryptocurrency compliance, while others incorporate it into their financial regulatory systems. This inconsistent attitude is more likely to breed cryptocurrency scams.
How to avoid encryption scams, Aihuicha suggests investors choose well-known encryption exchanges. In addition, investors also need to know that investing in cryptocurrencies poses greater risks compared to other financial assets, and investing in cryptocurrencies requires caution.
